Built from a Patient's Perspective
We build precision instruments for clinical assessments that have relied on subjective methods for too long.
The Clinical Gap
In 2025, our founder visited an occupational therapist after a pinched nerve affected his ability to move his right hand. The therapist used a dynamometer to quantify his grip and pinch force, but no instrument existed for assessing extension and abduction, which was the founder's primary challenge. For the clinician, it meant falling back on subjective manual muscle testing. For the patient, it meant a clinical record that didn't reflect the actual impairment.
The Splayometer gives clinicians the quantitative data they need to assess, document, and track the full range of hand and finger functionality — for the first time.
Metric Devices
Metric Devices was founded to address gaps in measurement and instrumentation, to develop novel devices for applications where quantitative tools have been lacking or nonexistent.
Our team combines expertise in materials engineering, product development, and applied science to bring new measurement capabilities from idea to production.
